Write for us

Golden Cycling Journal welcomes thoughtful pitches about countryside cycling, rural places and the small particulars of a journey. We are interested in original ideas that give readers something clear to notice, understand or consider, without requiring specialist credentials or first-hand testing to be useful.

Ideas that suit the almanac

We welcome pitches about the character of country lanes, seasonal changes in the riding landscape, rural landmarks, cycling customs and the planning of a day out. A strong proposal has a distinct subject, a clear reason for writing now or for keeping the piece evergreen, and a sense of what readers will take away.

Make the pitch specific

Please send a working title, a short summary of the central idea, the intended reader and a few sentences about how you would approach the piece. Mention any place-specific context or sources the idea depends on. We prefer a fresh angle to a broad promise to cover cycling in general, and we do not seek promotional copy disguised as editorial work.

Sending a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question or contribution reason where available. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; please do not send a complete unsolicited manuscript unless requested. We cannot promise a response time.

A way of looking

A ride is also a way of noticing.

We look at the countryside from bicycle height: its lanes, landmarks, seasons and the customs that gather around a journey.
